Why Caboolture is home sweet home

Location is the key in any move - and Caboolture certainly ticked all the boxes for DEM Solutions.

The engineering company was started in a garage by Brian Montgomery in 2009, then went to a commercial unit in Narangba for three years before relocating to Deception Bay.

When DEM Solutions outgrew those premises, the latest search took in areas north of Brisbane, but “always came back to Caboolture”, operations Manager Lisa Montgomery said.

It was also just before the launch of Caboolture Made, a campaign to showcase businesses, community groups and residents by “shouting” about goods and services in the region.

“The more we looked at commercial properties in Caboolture the more we knew that this was the right area for us and the business,” operations Manager Lisa Montgomery said.

“The reasoning being due to the diversity of industries in the area and the location, literally one minute off the Bruce Highway, if you time the traffic lights right.

“We are also halfway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, so essentially location and industry diversification are what made Caboolture appealing for our business.”

Since being in Aerodrome Rd, for the past four months, DEM Solutions has had plenty of local support from small jobs to urgent breakdowns.

“We are true believers of supporting the locals and that’s what we do. It’s also handy walking to get supplies from neighbouring suppliers in our road,” Lisa Montgomery said.

“At this stage we have capacity at our existing premises to expand so we are not planning on moving for a while, but if we do, we’ll remain in Caboolture.”

The family business began in a standard double garage in the middle of the GFC (Global Financial Crisis) and the first order completed by “begging” use of another company’s machines.

However, DEM Solutions has grown and profits made are still being reinvested into machines, technology and tools to produce top-quality products.

These includes specialised equipment for the aerospace, automotive, defence, marine, medical and mining industries using top-of-the-range CNC machines and equipment.

In fact, most of its client base has come from word-of-mouth referrals.

Caboolture Made will #shoutitout, sharing stories and success on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn as well as Moreton Daily, 101.5FM and Hot91.

The business community will then be encouraged to support and share the stories to celebrate the Caboolture region and dispel myths and misconceptions.

Members of the public are urged to follow Caboolture Made on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn sharing posts and positive stories.

The campaign is an initiative of Moreton Bay Regional Council, supported by BPW Caboolture and the Greater Caboolture Chamber of Commerce.
