Moreton Bay region’s Treasure Island sheds have reopened at Dayboro, Samford and Mt Nebo dumps.
Open for local residents only to use, the sheds act as a swap shop within the Moreton Bay Regional Council transfer stations for reusable items.
“As they say: one person’s trash, is another person’s treasure.” Mayor Peter Flannery says.
“It’s a great way for locals to reuse and recycle items from home that are in good condition but no longer being used. From household furniture and spare parts, to quirky collectables and books, there’s endless items ready to be yours.
“It’s enormously popular and I’m glad residents will be able to pick up pre-loved items once again as council continues to look for ways to make our waste operations more sustainable. We want to see people reusing, repurposing and recycling as much as possible, and I’m proud that the Moreton Bay community strongly embraces this message.
“Remember it’s still critically important at this sensitive time to observe social distancing and take necessary hygiene precautions”
