Warning after report of bogus police car in Burpengary

Moreton District Police have warned motorists to be on their guard after an incident in Burpengary East where a woman was allegedly stopped by someone impersonating police.

The woman was on Uhlmann Road, between Wongai Chase and Currant Road, about 7.40pm on Sunday when she was pulled over in her hatchback by a dark-coloured sports utility vehicle (SUV).

She said the SUV tried to intercept her using red and blue flashing lights, but once stopped, the flashing lights changed to a solid green.

At that point she became suspicious and drove to a nearby service station where she called police.

Police appeal

If motorists suspect they are being hailed by someone impersonating a member of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), they should drive to their nearest police station.

Police are urging anyone who may have dash-cam vision or further information to contact them.
