Experience authentic Eastern culture, history, and entertainment during Moreton Bay Region’s annual Lunar New Year celebration at Caboolture next month.
The event, to be held at Caboolture Town Square on February 5, presented by Moreton Daily, is free to attend and will feature traditional music and dance, mouth-watering oriental food, Chinese dragon dancing, cultural workshops, cracker displays, pyro showcases, market stalls, and workshops.
Take a stroll under the festoon lights from 4-8pm, roam the twilight markets while you celebrate the Year of the Tiger, and explore rich Eastern culture and history.
Caboolture is just a 40-minute drive from Brisbane’s northern suburbs or the Sunshine Coast. Caboolture Town Square has plenty of free parking and open spaces for guests to enjoy the event under the stars.
Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) Chairman Shane Newcombe says those interested in learning more about the traditions of the Lunar New Year can enjoy free and low-cost art activities, calligraphy workshops, and drumming showcases.
“The Moreton Bay Region is celebrated as a diverse and inclusive region and we look forward to celebrating the Year of the Tiger with locals and visitors in February,” Mr Newcombe says.
“Lunar New Year is celebrated by more than 1.5 billion people from Singapore, to China, and right here in the Moreton Bay Region.”
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Peter Flannery says it is becoming a major event on the regional calendar.
“It’s the perfect cost-effective and family friendly night, with a program filled with traditional lion dancing, Chinese dragon dancing, stage performances, and Asian-inspired food trucks,” Mayor Flannery says.
“If you haven’t been before, then make sure you discover this spectacular celebration of culture, food, and tradition.”
The night will conclude with a dazzling pyrotechnic firecracker display at 8pm.
This event is presented by Moreton Daily and delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), in partnership with Moreton Bay Regional Council and Multicultural Association of Caboolture & Surrounds.
