Strathpine women's $25,000 birthday surprise

A Strathpine woman has gifted herself an unforgettable birthday present - a $25,000 top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The top prize winning $2 Spot Some Cash ticket was bought at Nextra Strathpine in Strathpine Centre on Gympie rd.

“I bought the ticket on my birthday and left it in my bag,” she says. “I completely forgot it was there until a couple of days ago, so I scratched it straight away.

'I went numb'

“When I saw the prize amount on the ticket, I went numb. I didn’t know what to do. It was incredible, it was such an exciting surprise!

“I’ve never dreamt something like this would happen to me. It was a very surreal experience.”

With $25,000 about to hit her bank account, the Moreton Bay region resident said she was looking forward to setting herself up financially.

Amazing feeling

“I am going to be debt free,” she says. “I will pay off a few bills and enjoy the financial freedom. That will be an amazing feeling!”

Nextra Strathpine team member Brianna Hawkes was ecstatic for the regular customer.

“We’ve haven’t had an Instant Scratch-Its top prize win in a while! It’s great to have another major prize win,” she says.

'Enjoy your prize'

“Our last big win was three years ago. It was a $10,000 top prize in June 2018. It feels great to sell a winning ticket and help someone, whether it’s big or small.

“On behalf of Nextra Strathpine, I would like to say a huge congratulations to the winner and hope they enjoy their prize!”

In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 32.3 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $281.17 million. This equates to more than three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
