Spirit of giving shines

Embrace the spirit of giving at this year’s Christmas in the Moreton Bay Region signature carols events by placing a present under the Charity Donation Tree for those who need a little extra Christmas cheer this year.

The carols, presented by Moreton Daily, have partnered with four charities from across the Moreton Bay Region to help those in need.

A donation tree will be placed at each of the four signature carols events – Caboolture, North Lakes, Redcliffe and Pine Rivers – and those attending are being encouraged to leave a gift that will be treasured by a family doing it tough.

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism Chairman Shane Newcombe, publisher of Moreton Daily, says a small gift can go a long way in making Christmas brighter.

“For many in our community, 2021 has been a tough year. Community groups across the region are telling us the need is greater than ever, so we’re pleased to be able to assist by mobilising the community at our four big carols events,” Mr Newcombe says.

“Most people want to help in some way and the donation tree makes it easy for them to make a small, but heartfelt gesture.

“We hope those who receive the gifts will feel the warmth of that gesture as they open them on Christmas Day.

“We welcome and encourage gifts for all ages, particularly children aged 0-12 years.”

What to donate

Gifts to consider are new toys, non-perishable food items and new clothing. Hampers filled with non-perishable Christmas treats are also welcome.

Items will only be collected from the donation trees located at each of the signature carol events.

If you wish to donate outside of these events, please contact the charities direct for more information on how you can help.

Those attending the carols may even wish to purchase an item from the twilight markets at the event to donate (please note that there will be no twilight markets at Redcliffe Christmas Carols).
Alcohol, dangerous and inappropriate gifts will be disposed of.
