Entries are rolling in from across Queensland for the first Suttons Beach Pavilion Swim on Australia Day next year.
The event, run by SSG (Suttons Swim Group) Multisports Club, will feature 4km, 2km, 1km races as well as a family fun inflatables swim, at 6am.
There will be prizes for winners and live music is planned for the day.
Oli Thomson, co-owner of sponsor Suttons Beach Pavilion, said the swim had been set up as the Australia Day activities were moving to Scarborough in 2022.
“We felt we needed to put something on for the community in Redcliffe,” Mr Thomson said.
“Given how many active healthy people we have and our proximity to the water, a swim event seemed logical.”
Mr Thomson said Suttons Beach Pavilion had a long association with SSG Multisports Club, hosting events and meetings.
In return, club members supported the Pavilion in the pandemic, especially when it could only provide takeaway food.
