Santa’s heading to Christmas Twilight Market

The jolly man in the red suit will be meeting good boys and girls from across the region when he appears at the upcoming Redcliffe Christmas Twilight Market this weekend.

Santa, along with his assistant Elfie the Elf, will be making the journey from the North Pole to Redcliffe on Saturday, December 11 where they will be posing for selfies.

The Redcliffe Christmas Twilight Markets will be an opportunity for people to start buying presents on their Christmas list.

Stretching close to 1km long and featuring more than 230 artisan stallholders and producers, scores of bargains are to be found when the markets are held along the water at Redcliffe Parade from 4-9pm.

Market Co-ordinator Natalea Noyes says she is hoping for a big turnout on the day.

“Christmas is a special time of year, and we consider it a privilege to be able to deliver these events that allow families and communities to come together,” she says.

“It's great to see local events back in the spotlight, and to be closing out 2021 on a high note.”

What to expect

Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of handmade items including fashion, jewellery, homewares, gifts, fresh produce and meats direct from the farmers, freshly caught seafood from the trawlers, artisan baked breads and pastries, flowers, plants and much more.

In addition to shopping, the markets will also feature a lucky door prize (with registration via Eventbrite), live music between 4.30-8.30pm, roving entertainment between 5-8pm, Santa selfies with an Elfie from 5-7.30pm followed by the Harcourts Unite Fireworks at 8pm.

There will also be plenty of activities for children to enjoy including face painting, a petting zoo, laughing clowns, a jumping castle and performances.

If you get hungry from all that shopping, there will be an abundance of cuisine on offer including; I Heart Calamari; My Latino Fusion; Paellaman; BrisVegans; Brat Haus; London Spuds; Eat Me Food Truck; Carlos Tacos; Aloha Twist; G-Free Donuts; Churros Bites; and Brisbane Distillery with their True Spirit Bus.

Harcourts Unite Redcliffe owner Tara Hawley says it is important to support these much-loved events.

“We're really pleased to work with the team at Redcliffe Markets to not only deliver some festive cheer to the thousands of locals on the Peninsula but to also showcase the calibre of lifestyle that we enjoy here in Redcliffe,” she says.

If you’re unable to make the Christmas market, or want to come back and continue browsing, the stallholders will be back on Sunday, December 12 and 19 from 7am-1pm, with Santa and Elfie roaming the crowd between 9-11am.

If you’re planning to head to the market, organisers are reminding visitors to bring along their face masks, check in with the QR codes at all entrances, and air-five their mates for everyone’s safety.

There is free parking with multiple council car parks surrounding the market.
