Roundabout on way out at Petrie

Roundabout on way out at Petrie

The old Petrie roundabout has been removed and covered in asphalt as work progresses on new traffic signals at the Anzac Ave, Dayboro Rd and Gympie Rd intersection.

State Member for Kurwongbah Shane King says the temporary pain for commuters, local residents and businesses will ease soon with the project so far on track to be completed early next year.

“I know there’s been some unavoidably noisy works lately, while commuters and businesses are having to deal with constantly evolving traffic and access conditions,” Mr King says.

“But the end is in sight – quite literally because the roundabout is actually gone now. I'd like to thank businesses, residents and motorists for their patience as we deliver this important upgrade."

Mr King says the project has widened the intersection, creating extra lanes for more traffic.

"New traffic lanes have been built on Anzac Ave, southbound, and these are now open for motorists," he says.

"The new lanes will allow more drivers through the intersection and the signals will prioritise traffic during busy morning and afternoon peaks.

"In the meantime, the new lanes are being used to keep the intersection flowing during works while the roundabout transforms into a T-intersection.”

Going, going, gone ...

Mr King is reminding road users to observe all signs and traffic controller directions in the vicinity and to drive to the changed conditions.
