The headline act has been secured and new dates locked in for Rockin 4 the Homeless 2020, after COVID-19 restrictions forced organisers to postpone it earlier this year.
Director Dan Nebe and his team are hard at work securing sponsors and venues but have committed to two dates in December for a gala ball and concert.
The Rockin’ 4 the Homeless/Breakfast Club of Redcliffe gala ball and guitar auction will be held on December 18 at a venue to be determined.
It will be hosted by The Superjesus frontwoman Sarah McLeod and the Hoodoo Gurus’ Dave Faulkner.
The Rockin’ 4 the Homeless concert will be staged on December 19, with about nine hours of music, raffles and a full festival production.
The Superjesus will headline this year’s event after ‘stealing the show’ last year.
They will be joined by Spy V Spy, Team Utopia, Salt & Steel, Dead Hand Blues and many others to be announced in the coming couple of months.
“The Superjesus loved Redcliffe last year, they stole the show, absolutely stole the show and gained quite a big following in Redcliffe following that,” Dan says.
“A lot of people said they were amazing and we should have them back this year. They took five seconds to say yes to me.
“Sarah has become a good friend and they really support what we’re doing. In Sarah’s words, they have a voice so they like to use it. They like to use their platform to help the needy and the homeless.”
Organisers are working hard to finalise venues and secure sponsors for this year’s event, but are excited to have locked in the December dates. The event was meant to be held on June 12, but was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“The train has started rolling,” Dan says.
“We’re working with Council and Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) and sponsors to get this over the line. There’ll be plenty of hard work in the months ahead for the team.”
Of course, both events are subject to government restrictions continuing to ease and COVID-19 remaining contained.
“But we’re being proactive and positive and moving forward,” Dan says. “We need to plan it six months out.”
