Registrations now open for inaugural Moreton Baybz Pin-Up Parade

If you love vintage fashion and dressing up, then you’re invited to strut your stuff on stage at the inaugural Moreton Baybz Pin-Up Parade.

Four pin-up parades will be held as part of the upcoming Anywhere Festival, which runs from May 14 to June 5.

Pinup producer and MC Lulu Divine has partnered with three Redcliffe singers who make up the band Vixens of Fall, who have happily agreed to feature the pin-up parade as part of their concert series for the festival – Boho Babes, Ballads and Bush Poets.

Singer Nina, who performs alongside her sisters Wren and Lulu, said incorporating a pin-up parade into their show was a lot of fun and different to what other people were doing.

“We thought it would be a fun idea to incorporate a pin-up series as part of our show for the Anywhere Festival because we held one in Narangba last year and people really enjoyed it,” she said.

“The vintage feel is really coming back into style – people love the fashion, more people are listening to records again, and it’s just a nice way to relive the classics and moments from back then.

“We want as many people as possible to sign up for the pin-up parade – anyone can be involved, regardless of your age, shape or gender.

“We want to share the love with everyone and for people to come along and have some fun.”

Nina is hoping this parade will lead to bigger and better things in the Moreton Bay Region.

“I think if we can get a lot of people involved in this, it will grow to be something the community looks forward to every year,” she said.

“It has so much potential to grow and become something bigger, and I think it lovely that we have this opportunity to let people put themselves out there – it’s a way they can express themselves.”

How it works

There will be four competitions and themes which will run in conjunction with the four concerts by Vixens of Fall.

The first three parades will act as rounds for all competitors, with the final parade and concert to determine the overall winner.

The pin-up parade and concerts will be held on the following dates:

  • Saturday, May 21 at the Narangba Community Hall: The theme will be Modern Day Pin-Up.
  • Thursday, May 26 at Method Art Collective, Brendale: The theme will be Neo Pin-Up.
  • Sunday, May 29 at the Bribie Island Recreational Hall: The theme will be Vintage Dame.
  • Saturday, June 4 at the Dayboro Community Hall: The theme will be Moreton Baybe final.

To enter Moreton Baybz, you must purchase a ticket to the related event Boho Babes, Ballads and Bush Poetry.
