Clubs join blitz with vaccine voucher offer

Region's clubs join vaccine blitz with voucher offer

Four clubs in the Moreton Bay Region have joined a new free voucher drive to boost COVID-19 vaccinations, announced today by Health Minister Yvette D’Ath, pictured making the announcement at North Lakes Sports Club today.

Club Pine Rivers, Norths Leagues Club, North Lakes Sports Club and Caboolture Sports Club will be offering $10 food and beverage vouchers.

The vouchers will be available from tomorrow (November 4) and only to those receiving their first dose of vaccine on leaving a vaccination hub.

Double donut

There were no new community or overseas cases of COVID in Queensland in the last 24 hours. Twelve active cases remain.

9545 tests were carried out and 10,533 vaccinations. 78.21 per cent of eligible Queenslanders have the first dose and 64.71 per cent two doses.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said 29 clubs in regional centres and Southeast Queensland would offer 7,250 vouchers in a bid to boost vaccination rates.

New incentive

“If people weren’t convinced by the fact getting vaccinated could keep you out of hospital and save your life, they might be enticed by a $10 voucher that can be used at local clubs.

“It’s another reason to get vaccinated. Getting the jab means you’re 80 per cent less likely to get COVID and pass it on.

“It’s time to roll up your sleeve and get the jab then roll up to your local club and have a feed.”

Keeping safe

Clubs Queensland CEO Kelly Egan said Queensland’s community clubs wanted to do their bit to support the vaccine rollout.

“Getting vaccinated is the best thing Queenslanders can do to keep safe and healthy and keep our community connected,” Mr Egan said.

“Community Clubs connect everyone and as an industry, we’re happy to support our community by encouraging people to get vaccinated”.
