Quiet celebration for Meg's 100th birthday

Quiet celebration for 100th birthday

Meg White, who has lived in Redcliffe for more than 50 years, has turned 100 today.

However, there are no big party plans at the Azure Blue retirement home where she lives.

Mrs White will, instead, celebrate quietly with a birthday cake at the home on Anzac Ave.

War time service

Marion Elizabeth White, known as Meg, was born on January 17, 1922 at Waverley, NSW to Nora and Leslie Abel and had a brother Hueston (deseased).

Mrs White trained as an accountant before World War II and joined the Royal Australian Air Force from 1939-45.

She met and married Elvan White on June 27, 1945 and they had four children – Ann, Lee, Paul and Ian.

There were five grandchildren – Lynette, Jamie, Emma, Lacey and Megan (deceased) – as well as many great grandchildren.
