COVID-19, floods … there’s nothing going to stop the Priscilla bus rolling into Redcliffe Entertainment Centre next week.
There have been some show time changes, but it will go on and the community is being asked to join in the fun.
The Redcliffe Musical Theatre (RMT) production was cancelled earlier in the week while the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre assessed damage to the venue due to flooding but now has the green light to go ahead.
RMT President and Director Madeleine Johns says it is a huge relief for the cast and the crew, with all eight shows going ahead. The musical will now open on March 12 instead of March 11 but an extra show has been added on March 13.
“So, get your platform shoes and glitter eyeshadow on, grab a cocktail and climb aboard the Priscilla bus bound for absolute fun and frivolity,” she says.
Madeleine says there was some confusion earlier in the week, which had now thankfully been resolved and she hopes the community will join in the fun and support the cast and crew which have worked so hard to put the show together.
“We’re going ahead. The only difference is we’re opening on Saturday instead of Friday. That won’t have an impact on the quality of the production,” she says.
Madeleine says the theatre itself has not been damaged by flooding.
“We’re grateful that council and the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre have worked through this with us. It’s a win for everyone,” she says.
Madeleine says the community deserves a fun, ‘full mardi gras party’, after a stressful start to the new year.
She says RMT could add an extra show to the schedule if there was demand for it.
