Clearing up after

Patching up our potholes

The rain may have gone, but the clear-up continues across the Moreton Bay Region – especially on our roads.

Moreton Bay Regional Council had received 85 customer requests between Saturday and this morning to repair potholes.

At the time of writing, more than half of these requests had been completed by council’s asphalt patching trucks.

Missed the worst

Mayor Peter Flannery said he was grateful Moreton Bay Region avoided the worst of this week’s deluge which saw more than 150mm of rain fall in Redcliffe and more than 210mm in Beerburrum.

“Already our road crews have fixed 53 of the 85 potholes that have been reported to Council,” Mayor Flannery said.

“This has been a remarkable effort and I want to thank our community for bringing issues to our attention, so that we can get out to help as quickly as possible in the hardest hit areas like Caboolture, Morayfield and Deception Bay.

Alert app

“This week’s rain and flash flooding serves as a timely reminder for people to be storm ready and download our MoretonAlert app to receive flood and storm updates direct to your phone.

“We’ve been incredibly lucky compared to the crisis that’s south of the border, which is why we’ve deployed local SES crews to New South Wales to help with their disaster response.”
