Passion paves the way for success

Chelsea Hollis-Neath has come a long way from juggling a three-month-old baby, a toddler and three paper diaries as she and husband Ramon Smith worked to establish their remedial massage business.

The Kallangur mum has been named as a finalist in the Health and Wellbeing category of the AusMumpreneur Awards, presented by The Women’s Business School for her achievements running Primal Remedies at Kallangur.

Nomination an honour

“It was quite an honour to be a nominee, and to make the finalist list is incredible,” Chelsea says.

“My husband and I started the business in 2016 when my daughter (Madeline) was three months old and my son (Bronson) was two-and-a-half.

“It was so challenging trying to redefine who I am as a mother and as a business person. That’s quite tricky.

“But if you’re passionate about something and it’s something you’re meant to do, you’ll find a way.”

“It certainly was a challenging time, but it was worth it.”

Unexpected upside

Like many businesses in the region, the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic brought more challenges for Primal Remedies, including the closure of their clinic at Banyo.

But Chelsea says the easing of restrictions has had an unexpected upside.

“We’ve been really busy as clients realised how important massage was for pain, and for their mental health,” Chelsea says.

“It’s been really interesting hearing people’s stories – a lot of people are opening up to us.”
