A new midweek market is being launched in Caboolture Town Square next month.
The square will be taken over my market stalls on the first and third Wednesday each month, 10am-2pm, from October 6.
The market will continue to December 15, take a break over Christmas and most of January before - if the response and reviews are positive - returning after Australia Day.
Mark Power, Market Co-ordinator at Goodwill Projects which is running Caboolture Town Square Markets, said he would “love” to think the market will continue in 2022.
Mr Power said the Caboolture Town Square Market would have gourmet street food, local produce and stall holders, as well as live entertainment.
There will also be some speciality traders from outside the region.
Mr Power said the market would have “some of the region’s best foodie offerings” with glorious gnocchi, smoky bratwurst, curries, pizzas and delicious dumplings.
“We’ll have freshly-picked produce straight from local farms, artisan provisions, fresh cut flowers, bespoke jewellery, giftware and so much more,” he said.
Mr Power said a town square market had been raised on a number of occasions and Moreton Bay Regional Council had been a “huge support” to the project.
“In these COVID times, council has been so enthusiastic and keen to help people get out and about,” he said.
Cr Adam Hain (Division 3) said he hoped to see locals and workers flocking to the CBD.
“I want this to grow to be as big as the Brisbane City Markets that pop-up in Reddacliff Place in the CBD on Wednesdays,” he said.
“This initiative has the power to transform our CBD with new life and activity, and hopefully encourage more foot traffic.
“I’m a massive supporter of community initiatives like this that also have an economic benefit, so I hope to see locals out in force supporting this new initiative.”
Goodwill Projects also runs Redcliffe Markets on Sundays, Carseldine Market on Saturdays and markets in Brisbane City.
