Musical first coming to Woodford

Musical first coming to Woodford

Murphy’s Pigs, which have played at the world’s largest Celtic festival, have launched SwineSong at Woodford to raise funds for local charities and organisations.

The popular Celtic music band will top the bill at the first SwineSong Woodford community event, being held at Woodford Showgrounds on January 24, 2021.

Money raised at the event will go to groups including Woodford Ambulance Committee, Wamuran Lions, Delaney’s Creek Chaplaincy, the SES and scouts.

Back in town

SwineSong is the brainchild of Murphy’s Pigs whose annual pilgrimage to play at Woodford

Community Hall was cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

But, with help from friends, the 12-strong musical ensemble is coming back to Woodford next month with an array of Celtic songs and supporting acts.

They include singer-songwriter Liam Kennedy-Clark, The Aussie Uke Show and Brisbane singer-songwriter Felicity Kircher.

Dancing Piglets

Murphy’s Pigs, which have supporting dancers they call the Piglets, feature ‘melodic Celtic flute, alongside raw and rhythmic guitar, complimented with heart-felt sounds of the Celtic world’.

Earlier this month they played on the River Stage in Brisbane at the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols and in October recorded the Classic Christmas in Killarney

All profits from the latter are going to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
