Max's takes tally to six on golden run

Max Cunningham, from Grace Swimming Club, has continued his superb recent run adding two BSA Patrons Shield victories to his state titles.

Cunningham won the 12 Years Boys 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly at the Patrons Shield at Glennie School, Toowoomba late last month.

He was representing Brisbane Swimming Association (BSA) against the Gold Coast, Wide Bay and Darling Downs.

It followed four state titles at the Queensland Short Course Championships at Chandler.

He took the 12 Years Boys’ 50m Butterfly, 100m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke crowns as well as two silver medals and seven personal bests (pbs).

Grace team-mate Alia Shaw won silver in the 12 Year Girls 800m and had five pbs, while Olivia Smith had two top 10 finishes and 10 pbs in the 13 Year Girls.

Macey Lawler had one top 10 finish and five pbs in 12 Year Girls and Sam Baker one top 10 finish in the 13 Year Boys.

Thirteen other Grace swimmers collectively had 49 pbs at the short course titles.

Grace Swimming Club’s Club Nights restart on Wednesday (October 6) at the pool in Buchanan St, Rothwell from 6pm. Newcomers are welcome.

Each week swimmers nominate for races from 18m to 25m, 50m, 100m and 200m. Longer distances are also added to the schedule.

The Nippers Café has a sausage sizzle chicken burger and sweet treats.
