Make a date with Seniors Expo

The 2021 Longman Seniors Expo is approaching fast with local community groups, new products and services all geared towards health and retirement living.

Hosted by the Federal Member for Longman Terry Young, the expo will be at Morayfield on November 12 and Bribie on November 17.

It will feature a range of stalls with information on organisations such as Lions, Toastmasters, U3A, Probus and Rotary.

There’ll be information on government services including Centrelink, NBN and Aged Care – as well as opportunities to have hearing tests, eye tests or try a custom-made bed.

There’ll also be travel agents, home services such as Meals on Wheels, aged care facilities, retirement communities and much more.

Time to move on

Mr Young said with Australia moving from the pandemic restrictions that have kept many people isolated, now was the perfect time to join a local group or plan your next trip.

“The pandemic put the brakes on our social activities in many ways, but now it’s time to move on with our lives and for our older population to enjoy their retirement that they have worked so hard for,” Mr Young said.

“Looking through the list of exhibitors attending the Seniors Expo, I’m blown away at how many different groups there are out there where seniors can socialise, keep active and stay engaged in our local community.

“I’m really looking forward to checking out all the stalls and I hope to see you there too.”

Two expo dates

The Morayfield expo is on Friday, November 12 at Morayfield Sports and Events Centre, 298 Morayfield Rd, from 9.30am-12.30pm.

The Bribie Island expo is on Wednesday, November 17 at Bribie Respite Community Hall, 96–108 Arcadia Ave, Woorim, from 9.30am-12.30pm.

Admission is free with proceeds from stallholders and sponsorship going to Leukaemia Support Queensland, at Morayfield.

The COVID-safe event, supported by Moreton Bay Industry and Tourism (MBRIT), will have sample bags, lucky door prizes, demonstrations and more.
