Kindy turns close back 25 years

C&K Caboolture Community Kindergarten turned the clock back exactly 25 years to celebrate a landmark day.

On October 18 – 25 years to the day since the first kindy class was held - families, children, educators and former pupils returned to the Walter St centre.

They included Federal Member for Longman Terry Young and Nathan from the Gubbi Gubbi dance troupe who performed a Welcome to Country and told stories.

Family footsteps

Watching was Ke-Ara Coghill, who was a student at C&K Caboolture Kindergarten in 1998 and whose son Rakeem now goes there.

Photo albums showed how the kindy has been transformed over 25 years and a cake, made by Juicy’s Bakery in Rowe St, was cut.

Local Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi woman Lillian Beezley, has been a teacher and director at the Kindy for 17 years.

Second home

“Caboolture Community Kindergarten feels like my second home. I have seen some amazing changes take place during this time and I am so proud to be a part of it.” she said.

“One of my fondest memories is of a little boy whose mum came to enrol him and as he was running through the gate he was yelling, ‘mummy, mummy, they have real grass here!” Lillian said.

“We still have that real grass in our lovely, big, natural playground for children to explore, run, get dirty, use their imaginations and learn while they are playing.”
