Have your Say on Public Transport

Moreton Bay Regional Council is calling on the community to get on board and say what is needed to help shape the future of our public transport system.

For the next three weeks anyone who lives, works, or plays in the region can comment on public transport services, infrastructure, and safety to assist with future planning for Moreton Bay.

Council is looking for answers to questions such as: Where the region needs more bus stops? Are there safety issues at stations? Do we need better access to information on public transport?

Mayor Peter Flannery says the consultation webpage is an effective way of gauging what the community wants and needs into the future.

“We want the community to have a say on what works and what doesn’t when it comes to public transport in our region,” Cr Flannery says.

“While the responsibility for public transport lies with the State Government, Council wants to understand what the community wants so it can advocate for improved services in the future.

“The population in the Moreton Bay Region is growing at a rate of 2.5 per cent, so it is critical we have an understanding of what the community requires to get in, out and around the region.

“As our region grows, the community will rely more on public transport to get where it needs to go, so it is important we have the right services, infrastructure and technology in place to cater for that growth.

“We are seeking comment on everything from service frequency, routes and times to accessibility, security and overcrowding. We would even like to hear suggestions based on people’s experience of using public transport systems in other countries.”
