Redcliffe Takeaway Restaurant north Brisbane | Moreton Bay Tough

Fine dining at home anyone? This is how The Golden Ox got #MoretonBayTough and you get to enjoy fine dining from the comfort of home

The Golden Ox restaurant has earned a reputation for fine dining during the past four decades, and owners Nick and Virginia Tzimas never dreamt they’d be serving takeaway meals.

For the first time, their customers (who are more like members of their big extended Greek family), can enjoy a takeaway menu featuring some old favourites and new dishes, form the comforts of their home (even their PJs).

Nick says they’ve developed an online ordering system, as well as contactless delivery and pick-up options for customers.

He says fresh barramundi, lamb rump, whiting, garlic prawns, seafood fettuccine, spaghetti bolognese and their Wagyu beef burger have been popular.

And there are tasty options if you feel like dessert, including a flourless chocolate cake and orange and walnut cake.

Our mouths are salivating already!

Nick says he has been heartened by the phone calls and offers of help he’s received from long-time customers.

One even offered to deliver food for him.

“The beautiful thing is the people, the attitude of the people. The Australian attitude has always been great, but now it’s fantastic,” Nick says.

“They want to help small business and support business. They know it’s tough times. They really want to do their best to keep us in business.

“This has brought out the best in people.”

So, with the backing of their customers, Nick, Virginia and the team are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive so they can welcome them back into their restaurant dining room soon.
