With the temperature heating up, beaches are the perfect escape for families to enjoy a fun filled family day out. Luckily we have some of the best beaches north Brisbane so you don't have to travel very far to enjoy a dip at the beach. Whether you need some pointers on where the best family friendly beaches are or perhaps you are looking to try a new spot, then scroll through the list we've put together of best family friendly Moreton Bay Beaches below. 

Redcliffe Peninsula 

Suttons Beach, Redcliffe

Suttons Beach is a patrolled beach on the Redcliffe Peninsula in Moreton Bay, ideal for a gentle paddle or a swim for the little ones. 

With the breathtaking backdrop of Moreton Island, the small waves provide a fun splash for kids and a refreshing dip for any generation. Beach showers are available to ensure you don't bring home the sand and salt water with you. Remember to be sun safe and stay safe. 

With free parking, plentiful picnic grass areas, free BBQ's, and winding bike paths with views for miles. Picnic tables and amenities are available which make this one of the most popular weekend destinations in Redcliffe.

Scarborough Beach, Scarborough

Scarborough Beach is the perfect location for a picnic by the bay, promising a great family day out this summer. With an electric BBQ, picnic tables, sheltered areas, a Pirate Park playground and even a basketball court, there’s something for everyone. 

Located right on the beachfront allows the kids to also enjoy a paddle in the gentle waters. Oh, and don’t forget to visit the Gollum Tree to leave a fairy wish!

Margate Beach, Margate

Another pristine beach on the Redcliffe Peninsula awaits you at Margate Parade. The beautiful golden sand and calm waters make this place a popular dipping spot for young children's families.

Proudly boasting the longest mainland stretch of sand beach alongside a trendy timber boardwalk. The boardwalk location right next to the beach makes it convenient for scooters for walkers, bikes and little kids.

Margate Beach is well-equipped with quality BBQ facilities making it one of Redcliffe 's ideal barbeque beaches for a get-together. Pack sausages, onions, and bread, fill your esky with cold drinks, and take your friends or family down in the sun for a day out.

Deception Bay Beach, Deception Bay

Located North-West of Redcliffe, Deception Bay is a hidden gem of a beach. This stunning beach is a beautiful place to visit during low tide. Some of the highlights of Deception Bay include:

Stairways leading down to the beach, the kids will have fun exploring the tidal flats and trying to catch crabs on the shore.

The Bancroft Baths: created by Joseph Bancroft in the late 19th century, these baths were cut into bedrock and used to treat his ailing wife. This heritage listed site is an interesting place to discover during low tide.

When you’re ready for a break from the water, consider having a picnic at one of the many picnic facilities along Deception Bay. There are barbeques available too, making for a great picnic experience.

Bribie Island

Bongaree Beach, Bribie Island

Hosting a number of picnic tables, BBQ’s and shelters, Bongaree Beach is one of Bribie Island’s best beaches. It’s a prime location for an afternoon picnic by the sea. If you’d rather enjoy a relaxing day without the preparation, opt for lunch at one of the cafes, takeaway shops, grocery stores or even the ice-cream parlour for a sneaky dessert lunch.

Sylvan Beach, Bribie Island 

Due to its safe swimming and family friendly features, such as picnic and barbeque areas, playgrounds and toilets, Sylvan Beach is one of the most popular Bribie Island beaches. 

If you want to bring your own or hire a boat and explore the island by sea, there's a boat ramp. Before you head out for spot of fishing stop into the bait and tackle store, and if you don't catch something for lunch, you'll find a number of cafes nearby.

Woorim Beach, Bribie Island 

If you're searching for Brisbane's nearest patrolled surf beach, look no further than Woorim Beach on Bribie Island.  With its barbeque and picnic areas as well as a new playground and skate park nearby, this is the ideal place to start with the family. For Mum and Dad, there are also several shops and cafes.

Sandstone Point

Located just across the bridge from Bribie Island, is Sandstone Point beach another little perfect spot for taking the kids to.

  • Plenty of space to set up a nice picnic.
  • Kids will love playing on the quiet beach.
  • Incredible views of Bribie Island and Moreton Bay.
