The snap lockdown has forced organisers to postpone, reschedule or cancel a number of major events which were to be held in the Moreton Bay Region this weekend.

Dayboro Show

Dayboro Show Society has decided to postpone this year's Dayboro Show, which was to have been held on Saturday and Sunday (July 3-4).

However, organisers said in a statement: "Please make note that this decision is a postponement pending new available dates, and not a complete cancellation of the Show.

"Our aim is that Show attractions and entertainment can be rolled over to a new date which we hope to announce shortly."

Football fixtures

Football Queensland has postponed all NPL, NPLW and FQPL matches scheduled for this weekend due to the lockdown being extended in Brisbane and the Moreton Bay Region.

Football Brisbane has followed postponing all its schedule fixtures this weekend.

AFL Queensland has postponed all scheduled matches in South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales this weekend.

Queensland Rugby League has postponed matches in the following competitions this weekend: Rugby League Brisbane, Rugby League Gold Coast, Rugby League Ipswich, Sunshine Coast / Gympie Rugby League, Sunshine Coast / Gympie Junior Rugby League.

Queensland Premier Rugby has moved its Premier Grade, Second Grade, Colts 1 and Women's games to Sunday July 4. Lower grade matches will be deemed 0-0 draws and points shared.

NAIDOC Family Fun Day

The NAIDOC Family Fun Day in the Park, which was to have been held tomorrow (July 3), has been postponed until September 25 due to the lockdown.

Now in its 17th year, the family fun day will be at Barajugan Park, Endeavour St, Deception Bay.

Run by the Mindle Bygul Aboriginal Corporation, it celebrates the “achievements of our Peoples and raise the profile of our aspirations and our needs”.

Abbey Medieval Festival

An Abbey Festival Relief Fund has been launched following the cancellation of this weekend’s event (July 3-4).

Organisers said the lockdown prevented the event site being ‘adequately prepared’ and hit travel plans of reenactors and volunteers.

A relief fund target of $350,000 has been set to help the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology which has lost its major fundraiser for a second successive year.

Refunds will be made to ticket holders. To make a donation click here.

Farm Fantastic

Farm Fantastic, which was due to be held on Saturday and Sunday (July 3-4) at the Caboolture Showgrounds, has been postponed.

Australian Events, owner of Farm Fantastic, is currently working with the Caboolture venue to try and find a new date later in the year.

However, exhibitors and supporters are being urged to stay in touch via the website farmfantastic.com.au

Old Petrie Town Steam Fair

The Old Petrie Town Steam Fair, due to be held on Saturday and Sunday (July 3-4) has been postponed – and may not be rescheduled this year.

Organisers said the lockdown had stopped around 60 tonnes of rides and equipment being brought onto the site.

Efforts will be made to look for a suitable new date this year, but the chances are slim. However, organisers are planning to hold the steam fair in June 2022.

Bonfire Night

The lockdown has forced Sandstone Point Hotel, on Bribie Island Rd, to reschedule Saturday’s planned Bonfire Night to July 24.

All tickets for this weekend will be valid when the Bonfire Night is held three weeks later with rides, entertainment, food trucks and fireworks.
