Entries are open for the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre’s Matthew Flinders Art Prize.
In its 23rd year, the Matthew Flinders Art Prize is an open exhibition, with no set categories, and artists can create their pieces in any media.
First prize is $5000, second prize $2000, with two Highly Commended prizes of $500, a $500 People’s Choice prize and a $500 Bribie Island Community Arts Society Members prize.
Organising committee chairwoman Stephanie White said the art prize event grew each year and, despite COVID-19 forcing the event’s cancellation last year, 2021 looked to be on track to flourish.
“It is a welcome gathering point and focus for local and visiting artists from around the region and interstate,” Ms White said.
Entry is $35 per piece, with a maximum of two entries for each artist. Early bird entry with a saving of $5 closes on June 19, with general entry closing on June 26.
An exhibition of entries will run from July 16-August 7.
