We are a social bunch, especially when it comes to marking special occasions like milestone birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, and baby showers.
We also happen to be quite inventive in the face of change, and we’re seeing all new kinds of celebrations emerge as people embrace the iso-party trend during COVID-19.
Current Queensland restrictions allow for a maximum of five visitors to a single house, plus existing members of the household. Gatherings of up to 10 people are permitted in outdoor public spaces such as parks and playgrounds.
Moreton Bay Tough spoke to some local party and event suppliers for inspiration and tips, when adding that special touch to home-bound celebrations.

Gemma Keane, owner of Light of the Party, says her business has been busy supplying balloon garlands and decorations for people across the Redcliffe Peninsula.
She also specialises in handmade light-up letters and numbers that can be personalised to suit any occasion.
Gemma says getting together with your family, sharing time over a special meal, and adding some decorations can add a wonderful touch to ‘iso-birthdays’.
“We have decorated balloons for a 21st birthday, a 1st birthday, a 2nd birthday, a 12th birthday, a 20th wedding anniversary, and a 70th birthday,” she says of her recent work.
“Seeing a child’s face light up with their favourite characters on a balloon, or surprising a family member with bunches of balloons, really makes it all worthwhile.”
It can be difficult getting into the festive spirit without loved ones around, but Gemma is working hard to make every moment memorable.
“We are all in this together, and if we can help by doing some colourful balloons and our light-up lights to make someone’s birthday, that’s our pleasure.”
When it comes to creating a party atmosphere, Gemma is quick to answer: “Definitely colour!”
“Our giant light-up lights create a wonderful wow factor, and adding some bright balloons is a fantastic touch to any party.”
Light of the Party is a Kippa-Ring business, servicing the Moreton Bay Region as well as the Sunshine and Gold coasts.
