North Lakes Eels have had a record number of youngsters signing on for Auskick, the entry point to Aussie Rules for children aged from 5-12.
Eighty players are registered with the club, continuing the club’s rapid growth, and many were playing when the Dolphins News photographer dropped just before Easter.
The program is based on getting youngsters active in ball sports – not just AFL – and uses a variety of balls during activities.
It enables youngsters to have fun while learning the fundamentals of Aussie Rules - kicking, hand balling and marking.
As such, children can often have between 150 and 200 touches of the ball in one hour, while parents also get involved with their children.
