Don’t miss Lunar New Year

Don’t miss Lunar New Year

Caboolture’s Town Square will again be transformed into a world of Asian culture and Eastern delights for Moreton Bay Region’s Lunar New Year celebrations on February 13.

It will be a chance to be transported to an exotic world of Asian cuisines and traditional Chinese entertainment and runs from 4-8pm. Those interested in learning more about the traditions of the Lunar New Year can enjoy themed art activities and cultural displays.

Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) Chairman Shane Newcombe says it is an event not to be missed.

“The Moreton Bay Region is celebrated as a diverse and inclusive region and we look forward to celebrating the Year of the Ox with locals and visitors in February 2021,” Mr Newcombe says.

“The program is filled with traditional lion dancing, Chinese dragon dancing, Chinese choirs, musical performers and a spectacular cracker show finale.”

Major event drawcard

Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Peter Flannery says it is becoming a major event on the regional calendar.

“Lunar New Year is a massive event celebrated by more than 1.5 billion people from Singapore to China and here in Caboolture its popularity grows every year,” he says.

“If you haven’t been before, make 2021 your year to discover this spectacular celebration of culture, food, and tradition.”

Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year is a COVID-Safe event. Contact tracing details will be required upon entry by checking in via a QR code. Event parking is available in the multi-story car park off Hasking Street, and CBD parking on James Street.

It is free to attend Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year, which is presented by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT), and supported by the State Government, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Brisbane North Chinese Association, QLD Chinese Communities Inc, ALD Guangxi Multicultural Communities and World Arts & Multi-Culture Inc.
