Comedy, family fun in big Caboolture Festival program

Caboolture is the place to be this August, with a massive program of events across three weeks for this year’s Caboolture Festival.

From August 1-22, Caboolture will be a hive of activity with live music, comedy, entertainment, family friendly events.

There’s everything from jazz in the library, an Open Air Comedy Night, a high tea, tastes of the Middle East, tree planting and opera to a gem show, 90s trivia, ABBA Live and strawberry sundaes.

The signature event is the Moreton Bay Region’s answer to the EKKA - Caboolture Family Fun Day at Centenary Lakes on August 9 from 10am-4pm.

It coincides with the Moreton Bay Region’s EKKA public holiday, giving families across the region the chance to enjoy free rides, stage shows, face painting and workshops.

There will also be showbags for sale, market stalls, food trucks and more.

Open Air Comedy Night

On August 22, get ready to laugh out loud with some of Australia’s best-known comedians including Akmal Saleh, Steve Allison, Ting Lim, Aaron Pratt and Jo Gowda at the festival’s Open Air Comedy Night.

It is free to attend the event, which includes live music, food trucks and pop-up bar, will be hosted by comedian Ellen Briggs and is on from 4-8pm.

This event is proudly delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT) and supported by Sit Down Comedy Club and strategic partner Moreton Bay Regional Council.

MBRIT Chairman Shane Newcombe said the diverse program offered an event or experience for everyone.

“You can enjoy live jazz, opera, country music and even some of ABBA’s greatest hits this August right here in Caboolture,” Mr Newcombe said.

“We are really excited to welcome Akmal Saleh to the region for a night of laughs at Caboolture Town Square. The Open Air Comedy Night is an awesome addition to a program packed with events for residents and visitors of all ages.”

Packed program

Moreton Bay Region Mayor Peter Flannery said this year’s Caboolture Festival will turn up the volume with an awesome line-up of events.

“The Caboolture Festival offers an exciting program spanning live music, foodie events, art exhibitions, library workshops and so many more, with the festivities kicking off from 1st August,” he said.

“If you’re looking for an inexpensive alternative to a day at the Ekka, then the Caboolture Family Fun Day on 9th August is for you.”

“Centenary Lakes will come alive with a pop-up show of free rides, stage shows, activities, markets, food stalls and more.”

Cr Adam Hain (Div 3) said this festival would be Caboolture’s time to shine, showcasing a truly diverse offering we’ve got in this part of the region.

“The Caboolture Festival has a jam-packed calendar of exciting events, with something for everyone,” he said.

“Your little ones will stay entertained with loads of free workshops and playtime experiences, so be sure to mark your calendar for some family-fun.”

“I don’t know about you, but I’m going to take the family down to Luvaberry Farm and treat myself to some delicious sundaes.”

“I encourage you to invite all your friends and family to come along, support local businesses and join in the fun.”
