Celebrate World Environment Day at CREEC

Pack your sunscreen and binoculars and get ready for a day of nature discovery at a free Enviro Explorers event.

Mayor Peter Flannery says Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre (CREEC) will come alive with creepy crawly fun this weekend.

“Kids will be spoiled for choice if you bring them along to the CREEC Enviro Explorers event this Saturday, with a huge selection of free activities on offer,” Mayor Flannery says.

Free activities

“They can tackle the all-abilities playground, featuring a wheelchair accessible play area, sensory walls, flying foxes and slides, or get their hands dirty with a seedling planting workshop.

“Parents can put their feet up and enjoy the delicious food vendors, market stalls and information stalls – all you need to do is bring a picnic blanket.”

Mayor Flannery says Council is committed to putting on events that bring the community together provide a fun free day out.

Entertaining performers

An engaging line up of performers will take to the stage during the event, including Geckoes Wildlife, Larrikin Puppets and Reptile Kingdom Australia.

Division 12 Councillor Tony Latter says he is looking forward to seeing the community come together to learn about the natural environment.

“There’s no better way to celebrate World Environment Day than to get down to CREEC to learn about the world around us,” Cr Latter says.

Check out the wildlife

“I know my boys would love to come down and discover the native wildlife on offers – there’s snakes, lizards and other critters, with live shows and interactive displays.

“They can take their pick from an array of enviro-themed workshops and the more adventurous explorers may want to tackle the rock-climbing wall.

CREEC Enviro Explorers is a free event presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

It’s on this Saturday, June 5, from 10am to 2pm at CREEC, 150 Rowley Rd, Burpengary.
