Bribie club's new year relaunch

Bribie Island Country Music Club is being revived and will return next month.

A new committee has been formed and positions will be filled at an AGM on December 14 at Cooinda House, cnr Foster and Banya Sts, Bongaree at 2pm.

Lindsay (Scottie) Scott is the club’s Acting President, Shirley Austin Acting Treasurer, Janice Brown Acting Secretary and Justin McCarthy Acting Vice-President.

The club will then relaunch on January 23 with live music at Bribie Island Recreation Hall, First Ave, Bongaree from 11am-4pm. Members $6, non-members $8.

New band

There will be a “new hot band”, club artists, visiting and walk-up performers are welcome, so too visiting clubs. New members are welcome.

Regular meetings will return, on the fourth Sunday each month, at the same venue from February ??.

The relaunch comes after recent moves to relocate the club to Caboolture

“My husband and I are foundation members,” said Acting Secretary Janice Brown, “a lot of people worked hard to get the club going 28 years ago and wanted to see it stay on Bribie.

Alive and well

“Now we need support to revive it and keep it alive and well in 2022.”

Bribie Island Country Music Club has welcomed performers such as rockabilly cowboy Ian B McLeod, keyboard entertainer Rowland Storm, classic country performer Tony Wagner and country rock singer John Abbott.

Those attending the club’s shows must show evidence at the door they are double vaccinated.
